In 2008 Chrysalis started as a Year 12 Summer School with twelve schools mostly in Haringey. Chrysalis has now become a year-round programme with more than twenty Highgate teachers working on projects with over forty partner schools. The original mission was “to support pupils to apply to Russell Group universities” through extension and robust academic provision

Ten years later the Chrysalis network has expanded to secondary schools in Haringey, Camden and Islington. We also have close working partnerships with primary schools both local to Highgate and also to the east of Haringey, as a Hope in Tottenham member school.

Our mission remains the same whether we are working at primary or secondary level:

We believe that our programme of academic enrichment inspires pupils to want to study at the next level, whether that is a primary school to secondary, KS3 to KS4, KS4 to KS5 or at university

We are delighted to have developed a close partnership with Whitehall Park School in recent years. In each of the last three years a member of the Highgate maths department, along with Chrysalis teaching fellows and Highgate sixth formers, have led an exciting day of enrichment for all the key stage 1 and 2 pupils in the school. Additionally, Highgate pupils in Years 7 and 8 mentor young pupils in team-orientated games and activities.

Every Thursday lunch time, a group of around 12 KS4 students from Highgate are coming to teach sport activities to our pupils. Our Sports Captains and pupils are delighted to mix up with older students in organising exciting Sports activities.
