Nikki Uppal – Parent Governor
Nikki was elected to the role of governor in 2014. She is one of two governors with specific responsibility for Parental Voice, Community and Equality within the school. As such, she works with the school to ensure that it complies with its responsibilities within these areas in accordance with its policies, development plan and best practice through school visits, monitoring and regular discussion with the senior leadership team.
She is also a member of the Governing Body’s Finance Committee. The Finance Committee meets at least three times a year, oversees financial performance of the school and makes recommendations to the Governing Body where necessary.
Nikki is a qualified solicitor. She has practised commercial, IT and corporate law since 2001 with a large city law firm and as in-house advisor to a global IT consultancy. She has a degree in law.
Nikki specialised in advising on and negotiating large complex IT contracts, with multi-national companies in the oil and gas sectors, the UK government and broadcasting organisations.
Personal and family
Nikki and her husband, Paul, have two children, the eldest of whom is in the first cohort at the school.
Nikki enjoys travelling, theatre, rock-climbing and karaoke.
Nikki says: “Being a governor at Whitehall Park School has provided a unique opportunity to support a new school in the local area. The journey so far has been fascinating, challenging and incredibly rewarding. As the new school site starts to take shape, I look forward to helping the school move into its next phase and become one of the outstanding schools in the borough.”
