We are opening a nursery!
We delighted to announce that due to the popular demand expressed during our consultation with our current families last year, we will be opening a nursery class based from 1 September 2025.
The nursery will be open from 7.45am-6pm for 48 weeks of the year, and will cater for 3-4 year olds. It will be led by our Assistant Headteacher who will oversee the quality of the provision as well as the curriculum, which will be designed to facilitate a smooth transition into primary school.
Benefits of a school-based nursery
Attending a school-based nursery can significantly ease the transition into reception. Studies show that transitioning from nursery to primary school is a pivotal milestone in the lives of young children, and research emphasises the impact on academic achievement, cognitive development and wellbeing. This is largely due to the continuity of environment, relationships, and curriculum that such a setting provides.
Crucially, we also hope that this new provision will help families in reducing the amount of drop offs and pick ups necessary.
Funding
From September 2025, the government has extended funding for 30 hours of childcare a week, across 38 weeks. These hours can be stretched in a flexible manner to suit your needs across the full 48 weeks we will be open.
