What Whitehall Park School can offer your child

Choosing a nursery or a primary school is an important step in the life of a young family. It means evaluating if your child will feel comfortable in their new community, if the school will be able to cater for their learning style, and also consider what kind of opportunities they will be offered as they grow. You will also want to know how the school responds to individual children, and how its daily arrangements fit into your family life.
At Whitehall Park School, we bring together a small school community, a broad curriculum and generous space for learning, play and sport. Our ambition is for all children to become curious, confident learners who take pride in their work, develop their interests and feel they belong.
A nursery in a school setting offers the advantage of continuity of environment, relationships and curriculum, which links in - and is integral part of - our school curriculum. We are proud of our new nursery and the experienced staff leading it. If you are considering a nursery place, explore the information available and arrange a visit to discuss attendance options, fees and funding.

A small school with a strong sense of community
We are a close-knit community where children and staff get to know one another well: we strive to create an environment where children feel comfortable with the adults around them, confident to contribute, safe, and proud to be part of their school.
Our headteacher’s welcome describes the importance we place on children feeling supported and valued, taking an active part in learning and making the most of the opportunities offered to them.
Families are part of this community too. Parents and carers bring knowledge of their children’s interests, experiences and needs. We value that knowledge, and work with families in partnership towards the common goal for each child to thrive.

High aspirations and teaching that responds to the individual child
We have high expectations for children’s learning and personal and emotional development. We want them to build secure knowledge, think independently and have the confidence to tackle something unfamiliar.
Our ethos and values connect aspiration with independence, resilience, respect and compassion. We encourage children to ask questions, learn from mistakes and take responsibility for their learning, while recognising the contribution of others.
Strong foundations in reading and a wide range of subjects
Learning to read opens up the wider curriculum: daily story time, classroom book corners and books to share at home give children opportunities to encounter different stories, ideas and perspectives, whilst widening their horizon.
Our wider curriculum extends across science, history, geography, art, music, computing, languages, design and technology, and PE. We make strong connections between subjects and use practical experiences, visits and visitors to the school to bring learning to life.
Generous space for play and learning
The setting is an important part of children’s daily experience. Our modern building sits on a generous site with a large playground, an artificial-turf multi-use games area, woodland, and rooftop play and sports space.

All these different spaces provide room for free play, exploration and structured games. Children need opportunities to move, play with friends and enjoy being outdoors, as well as spaces where they can develop skills through organised activities.
On a visit, you can see the setting for yourself and discover how children use its different areas throughout the school day.

Sport
Sport and movement are integral to Whitehall Park's life. Our facilities, specialist coaching team and partnerships support opportunities for children to take part, develop skills and enjoy being active.
We want children to experience the satisfaction of improving through practice, working with teammates and trying different activities. Coaching relationships and opportunities to participate are an important part of that experience.
The school has achieved the Gold School Games Mark for two consecutive years. Children have opportunities to represent Whitehall Park in a range of sports, including football, netball, cricket and dodgeball as well as national events like the London Mini Marathon.
You can explore our PE and sport provision in more depth and see how we weave the development of physical well-being and confidence across daily school life.

Enrichment and care that support family life
We are part of a family of schools called the Bellevue Place Education Trust. Trust-wide opportunities in chess tournaments, debating and poetry competitions give children further ways to develop their interests, practise their skills and build confidence.
The aim is to offer every child a holistic education, and help them discover interests they want to pursue. You can explore further our current school wide curriculum, and our extra curricular activities here.
